Security & Privacy Promise

1. Locked on Your Phone Before Saving (LegacyVault)
Your family’s Care & Home notes (medications, doctors, health policy ID, home alarm, spare keys, and device PINs) and Banking & Will locations are locked directly on your phone using your personal Vault Passcode (minimum 8 characters with letters and numbers) before they are ever saved. Only you—and the trusted family trustees you authorize—can unlock your LegacyVault.
2. Family Trustee Emergency Timer & “I’m Safe” Cancel Button
If you are hospitalized or cannot answer your phone during an emergency, your spouse or designated Family Trustee can request emergency access from their own VilleShield app. This starts a staged countdown (2 hours for urgent Care & Home notes; 7 days for Banking & Will locations). The moment a request begins, your phone alerts you so you can cancel the unlock request with a single tap on the “I’m Safe” button.
3. Automatic 5-Minute Idle Lock & Passcode-Protected 1-Page Safe Sheet
Whenever your LegacyVault is unlocked on your phone, it automatically locks itself after 5 minutes of inactivity so sensitive notes are never left open on your screen. Your 1-Page Printable Safe Sheet (containing your 24-character Emergency Recovery Code) is strictly hidden while your vault is locked and can only be viewed or printed after unlocking your vault with your passcode.
4. Neighborhood-Safe Street Reports (~150m Privacy Grid)
When you report or confirm a street hazard on StreetShield, VilleShield verifies that you are nearby to prevent fake long-distance spam, then automatically rounds the pin to a ~150-meter neighborhood area. Your exact home address or standing position is never shown to other users, and old street reports expire automatically.
5. Report a Security Concern
If you have a question about our security practices or wish to report a security concern, please email privacy@villeshield.com or visit our Contact & Support page.
